Something you may not know......

What a week and it is only Wednesday.  Within our TCR community 3 families have suffered great losses this week and my thoughts and prayers are no doubt with these families.  We just never know what the future holds.

"Cherish the time you have with those who you
love. Tell the ones you love, that you love them every chance you
get, you never know when it might be the last"

Cancer has been my most recent topic as I am participating in the Relay for Life on June 25th.

Brian Sharpe's father-in-law lost his battle with cancer this week.  Cancer has become such a common thing, or maybe it is just that as we get older we pay more attention.

Something you may not know :  Rob Thomas wrote the widely popular song 3 A.M. (performed by his band Matchbox 20) about dealing with his mother's bout with cancer when he was just 12 years old.  Knowing what it is actually about changes everything about it the next time you hear it.

She says it's cold outside and she hands me my raincoat
She's always worried about things like that
She says it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining

She says baby
It's 3 am I must be lonely
When she says baby
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
Says the rain's gonna wash away
I believe it

She's got a little bit of something,
God it's better than nothing
And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all
She swears the moon don't hang quite as high as it used to
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining

She believes that life is made up of all that you're used to
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway
But outside it's stopped raining

  1. I love that song, but never knew the meaning. Very interesting. Cancer is terrible and something I work to educate on everyday!

  2. It is terrible and has a tendency to sneak up on people. If you get time check out my page for Relay for Life.

I love 3a.m. I also really love his new song "Her Diamonds" He wrote it about his wife who has been struggling for years now with an auto immune disease.

  3. Wow. I didn't know what this song was all about either. Changes my perspective, that's for sure. I'll have to check out "Her Diamonds". I have an auto immune disease too. Thanks Serenity :)
